I’m excited to announce that I will be partnering with Intrepid Travel for an ESBT group trip to Greece in early summer 2023! We will be spending 10 days sailing through the Cyclades islands from May 23- June 1, 2023.

Want to join me? Here are the details

Our Trip and Itinerary

This is a 10 day sailing trip starting and ending in Santorini.

The trip will start the morning of May 2023, and end on June 1, 2023. This time of year the water is calmer making it ideal for swim stops and not so rough for those new to sailing.

We will be visiting 9 islands (including Santorini) during our trip. The tentative schedule includes stops at:

  • Ios
  • Amorgos
  • Small Cyclades
  • Naxos
  • Syros
  • Mykonos
  • Sifnos
  • Folegandros

Please note that this schedule is subject to change based on conditions during the time of sailing at discretion of our skipper.

Find the full itinerary and trip details here.

Cost & Inclusions

The total cost for this trip is $2600.00 CAD. This is $124 cheaper than the listed price on the Intrepid website.

A $600 CAD non-refundable deposit is required at time of booking to secure your space. The remainder of the cost will be due 100 days before trip departure.

This cost is for the boat only. So transportation between the islands & accommodation as we will be sleeping on the boat. Due to the fact that this is a sailboat, rooms are shared either (2 or 3 per room). There is no private room option unless you want to pay for 2 spaces.

Please note all guests will also be asked to contribute 100 euros for the ship ‘kitty’ at the start of the trip. This is the money we use to buy groceries for breakfast and lunch onboard (we have early starts to sail and then have swim/lunch stop in secluded bays).

When I did this trip in 2019, the kitty was excessive and we were also able to use the funds for group car rentals to explore and the leftovers were enough to tip our skipper. Obviously this depends on our group’s spending habits but I am assuming based on past experience that this will be enough to cover all of that.

Flights and other expenses are not included in the cost.

What to Expect

This is a sailing tour so we will be spending a good amount of time on the boat. We usually set sail early morning (around 8am) and sail for a couple of hours before a lunch/swim stop. Then a little more sailing before we land on the island of the day where we have free time to explore. We often do group dinners at a local restaurant, however, you are welcome to do your own thing if you prefer.

The only ‘crew’ on board is our skipper so we may have to help out with little things like holding ropes, pulling in buoys etc. Nothing difficult, you are not expected to know how to sail but you may be asked to lend a hand from time to time.

I choose this time of year because the water is calmer, but we are on the open sea. If you are unsure of whether or not you get seasick, its a good idea to bring some seasickness tablets. I’ve also heard that the seasickness bracelets help. Also note you might get wet while sailing, we are on a boat. However, its lot of fun with beautiful views and sometimes, if we are lucky, dolphins.
