When it comes to castle hotels, Ireland and Scotland tend to get most of the attention. However, while both of those countries have some great castle hotel options, there are other places in Europe that offer some pretty incredible castle hotel stays as well. Here are some of the most beautiful castle hotels in the Czech Republic. The best part? They are surprisingly affordable!

Castle Hotels in the Czech Republic

Stekl Hotel

Stekl Hotel is an elegant manor-type property that is located right beside one of the Czech Republic’s most beautiful castles: Chateau Hluboká. Guests love the regally decorated rooms which are bright and airy with plenty of windows. The on-site restaurant serves of hearty traditional Czech meals and breakfast has plenty of variety for everyone. This Czech castle hotel also has an onsite spa and wellness centre which includes a swimming pool, whirlpool, and steam sauna. Guests can also book spa services such as massages.

While this castle hotel in the Czech Republic isn’t a typical castle hotel in that you don’t actually sleep in it, however, the hotel part is on the castle property giving it that true fairytale experience.

Hotel Ruze

Hotel Ruze isn’t quite a castle hotel in the Czech Republic, instead, this grand hotel was once a monastery. Today, it’s been updated and refurbished with plenty of modern amenities making it one of the top hotels in Cesky Krumlov. The property is decorated in a renaissance style and located beside the Vltava River which means most rooms offer beautiful views. There is also an onsite restaurant and wellness centre. Guests love the central location and friendly staff at this beautiful hotel.

One of the top castle hotels in the Czech Republic is Hotel Hruba Skala; a 14th-century castle that has been redesigned and restored to become a fairytale hotel in the middle of a Czech forest. It’s located in Cesky Raj, also known as Bohemian Paradise, which is a beautiful area filled with castles, rock formations, and hiking trails through the forests. Zamek Hradek

Zamek Hradek may not be an official castle, but this baroque building definitely looks like a royal palace. It’s located in a large park-type area and has an onsite restaurant where guests can order traditional Czech dishes and a variety of wines that can be enjoyed either indoors or in the hotel’s winter garden. Guests love the quiet atmosphere of this historic hotel and suggest it as the perfect location to spend a couple of days away from the crowds of the Czech Republic’s popular tourist areas.

Chateau Herálec

Travellers looking for a luxury 5-star castle hotel in the Czech Republic should look no further than the opulent Chateau Herálec which is located in the Bohemian-Moravian highlands. Rooms are bright and modern and there are plenty of great on-site amenities including a wellness centre, spa, restaurant, and bar. This chateau is surrounded by English gardens and in the summer guests can swim in the nearby quarry while in the winter they can ice skate in the yard. For a small but romantic castle hotel in the Czech Republic, not too far from Prague, consider spending a night or two at Chateau Liblice. This baroque castle went through extensive renovations in 2007 and today has comfortable and modern rooms, an onsite restaurant, and a spa with a hot tub, sauna, and massage treatments. There is also a wine lounge, a beautiful summer garden, and park grounds perfect for picnics or just enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

Chateau Hotel Zbiroh

Chateau Hotel Zbiroh

Looking for a historic castle hotel in the Czech Republic? Then take a look at Chateau Hotel Zbiroh. There has been a castle on this ground since the 12thcentury, though the one that you can find here today is seriously upgraded to what existed back then. However, despite its modern amenities this castle hotel tastefully adds a bit of medieval flair into its design. The rooms all have traditional wooden furniture and the restaurant’s hotel is a medieval-inspired tavern. The hotel also has expansive wine cellars, a wellness facility, and plenty of land for outdoor activities including horseback riding and fishing.

Ready to Book Your Trip?

Don’t forget travel insurance!

Please do not travel without travel insurance! I’ve had to use it multiple times throughout my travels and it has saved me thousands of dollars. You can learn more about travel insurance here. If you are looking for a provider I love and recommend SafetyWing. For Canadian readers, take a look at SoNomad.

Book your accommodation

I love and recommend booking.com for accommodation. They have a range of hostels, guesthouses, hotels, and resorts. Plus, the platform has a great loyalty program that means the more you book, the more you can save.

Book your tours

My go-to tour provider that I love to recommend is GetYourGuide. They have options all over the world and partner with local companies for everything from day trips to food experiences and even airport transfers.

Get connected

If you want to have data while travelling for online maps or any other needs, an esim is one of the easiest solutions. I have used esims around the world from Brazil to Uzbekistan, Greece to the USA- they are super easy and you don’t risk losing your home sim! There are two brands I have used and recommend so I suggest comparing both.

Airalo: download the app, pick what country you want an esim for, and after you purchase it follow the installation instructions. You can use promo code HANNAH3326 to save $3USD on your next esim purchase.

Truely: This one is easier in that it’s a one-time download instead of downloading an esim for each country. It also allows you to hotspot and tether- which not all esims do. Check out options here.

Not sure what to pack?

I have destination-specific guides for some countries but you can also check my travel essentials and camera gear if you are looking for some ideas.
