ESBT Antarctica Trip 2023
I am excited to announce that I am partnering with Intrepid Travel for an ESBT group trip to Antarctica in January of 2023.
This trip is ideal for:
- anyone who is dreaming of Antarctica but has nobody to go with and would prefer to travel with some like-minded individuals
- Anyone who might be intimidated by booking such a huge trip and is looking for a little more help and guidance with the process
- Anyone who wants to go to Antarctica and thinks this could be the perfect opportunity
Want to join me? Here are the details.
Our Trip & Itinerary
The trip is 11 days starting on January 11th, 2023 and runs to January 21, 2023. It is a cruise that starts and ends in Ushuaia, Argentina. (We do cross the Drake Passage so if you are worried about sea sickness, bring some medication. There is also a doctor on board.)
The tour is the Best of Antarctica tour which you can find the full itinerary and details for here. Please scroll down to ensure you get the January 11, 2023 dates as the itinerary changes via departure year.
The ship is the Ocean Endeavor which has a maximum of 200 passengers. It is a proper cruise ship with a gym, library, spa, yoga, saunas, heated pool (and a doctor) etc. You can learn more about the ship and the available cabin options here.
Please note: this trip is very weather dependent. We are guaranteed at least 1 continental landing in Antarctica, but the goal is that we will get 4. January is a warmer month to go and we will be able to see penguins (and babies!), seals, and whales during this time.
There are add on’s like kayaking, camping on land etc. All are at an additional cost but they are available to you if you want. It’s advised that you book onto these extras as soon as possible if you want to join as there are limited spaces. You can learn more about the options following these links:
- Polar Kayaking ($1099 for unlimited kayaking)
- Polar Snowshoeing ($150 USD- book onboard only)
- Camping on Antarctica $$399 USD for 1 night only)
- Polar photography Workshop ($1099 USD)
Please note that photography and kayaking overlap and cannot be booked together. If you would like to book, contact the voyages crew in the provided email below.
And yes there is an opportunity for everyone to do the polar plunge, so bring your swimsuit!
Cost
Pricing will depend on your cabin choice. When I first organized this tour I put the least expensive berths on hold but as we get closer to departure date, cost is now dependent on cabin availability. You can take a look here (make sure to enter January 11, 2023 as departure date).
Solo travellers who don’t book single supplements will be placed in a room with a fellow solo traveller of the same sex. If you want to share a room with someone in particular, mention that at time of booking.
Details for all the cabin options can be found here.
Flights are NOT included in these costs. You are responsible for booking your own flight.
Deposit and Payment
The required deposit goes up to the regular 20% of the trip cost, so the price will depend on what kind of cabin you choose.
The deposit is non-refundable. If you choose to cancel a trip:
-95 days or more before departure we will hold the amount of monies paid on credit for a future booking to be taken on an Ocean Endeavour departure before April 2024. Please note that this change of departure date without fee can be applied only once.
-fewer than 95 days before departure the cancellation fee is 100% of monies paid.
Full payment is due 95 Days before departure date. You can pay as you can payment-plan-style on your own time or pay in lump sum as long as the total amount is paid at this point.
Your booking is only confirmed when the deposit has been received.
Find full details of cancellation the policy here. This includes information on if Intrepid has to cancel the trip due to a Force Majeure Event.
Again, Intrepid Travel will be handing all booking requests and payment. Not me.

Hey Hannah,
I was just wondering if you had visit Antarctica and I just now found this post.
Unfortunately I was supposed to go to Antarctica w a European company in Feb 2022 but that got cancelled back in October. Now, I’ll hopefully be there during Christmas of 2022 and will spend New Year’s in Argentina solo. It’s gonna be interesting 🙂
I sure hope your cruising to Antarctica in 2023 will be smooth and as beautiful as what we see of it online. Enjoy!
Yay! I hope you get to go! I’m very excited to go in 2023!
