Are you an expert packer? I’m not. I’ll be the first to admit it. However, over the past few years, I’ve definitely gotten better at it. Even then, dozens of countries later I STILL always end up forgetting something. Or getting to a destination only to realize that I wish I brought X,Y, or Z. It’s a common issue, especially among us women who tend to need a few more things than the men. So, ladies, this is for you. Here are 8 travel accessories for women you didn’t know that you needed.
A Quality Travel-Sized Hair Brush
I will admit, I am the pickiest person ever when it comes to hair brushes. I actually super glued my favourite brush 3 times before I gave up and finally threw it out. My hair tangles like crazy and there is nothing I hate more than brushing knotted hair with a crappy brush. However, big hairbrushes also take up an unnecessary amount of room. Especially if you are travelling carry-on. Thankfully, I have since discovered the ultimate travel size hair brush. It’s called the tangle teezer and it fits easily in my hand and has a cover for the top so I can just chuck it in my bag. Even after scuba diving, this little brush works easily through my hair without ripping it out, making it one of my favourite travel accessories and my one of my favourite recommendations for travel accessories for women.

Leak-Proof Travel Bottles (Carry-on Size)
As picky as I am about my hairbrush, I’m also pretty picky about my shampoo, conditioner, and face wash. I can’t always take the full bottles with me due to size restrictions. But I’ve also been the victim of leaky travel liquid bottles. Trust me, there is nothing worse than seeing your favourite face wash all over your toiletry bag on the first night of your travels. Possibly worse? Assuming that your containers are in fact carry-on size when they really aren’t, then watching them disappear into the black hole of the garbage bin at airport security. To avoid all of those problems get this must-have travel accessory for women.
A Hanging Toiletry Bag
A toiletry bag is a given for women travelling. But give me a second to explain why you need a hanging toiletry bag. Two words: sink space. Or, more appropriately, the lack thereof. Do you know how tiny some European bathrooms can be? With their pedestal sinks and box-size showers that you can barely stand in. WHERE DO YOU PUT YOUR STUFF?! Not on the floor, that’s just nasty. But a hanging toiletry case means you can hang it from the door, the shower, or a towel hook. It’s the best way to keep your toiletries organized and within reach. Trust me, this is one of those travel accessories for women that will make your life so much easier.
OK, I know, packing cubes are on every ‘must buy’ travel accessories article out there. But for good reason. They make it SO easy to stay organized. Remember, I hate packing, so being able to pick up a cube and know that it’s full of shirts, or another and know that’s where I packed my socks and undies, is the best thing ever. No more ripping apart my suitcase to find something specific- it’s easy to find thanks to this handy travel accessory.
A Diva Cup
Another classic on every women’s packing list. If the fact that they are a million times better for the environment is enough to push you then imagine this: you’re travelling through Bali and unexpectedly get your period (trying to manage being on the pill with major time zone changes is not easy). So you go to the pharmacy and- oh no! They don’t sell tampons! Nobody sells tampons! Instead, you’re left with diaper sized hello kitty pads that promise to ruin your beach day. In case you didn’t guess already, that’s a true story. Don’t let it happen to you.
Some people don’t swell on planes. Some do. For the longest time, I was someone who didn’t; I never noticed any problems and my shoes never felt tight. Until last fall when I flew to Paris and suddenly my feet started to ache. They were so swollen that by the time I actually got to where I was going I had HUGE blisters on my heels and toes. Nothing like exploring a city by foot with massive blisters. Since then, I bought a pair of these compression socks and wear them on all my long flights. It’s a cheap and easy precaution that really can save your trip. Buy compression socks here.
Two words ladies: chub rub. If you don’t know what I’m talking about then consider yourself lucky. For those who do know exactly what I’m talking about; body glide will come to the rescue. Rub the balm on the inside of your thighs before you go out for the day and you can wear your skirts, dresses, and short shorts without the dreaded chub rub fear. If you plan on walking a lot, throw it in your purse to reapply halfway through the day, just in case. In terms of the best travel accessories for women- this one really is a life saver. Buy bodyglide for her here.
A Carry on Cozy
What is a carry on cozy? It’s a magical piece of clothing that pretty much takes care of all your basic travel needs. Blanket for the plane? Check. Poncho-type top to stay warm or cover your shoulders at a temple? Check. Swimsuit cover-up (skirt and dress)? Check. Scarf on a breezy day? Add another check. Yes, the carry on cozy is as amazing as it sounds and I’m pretty sure it might be the best travel accessory for women. The Evolve Top
I’m not quite sure if t-shirts qualify as travel accessories, but if they do then every woman needs an evolve top by encircled. These simple shirts are soft, comfortable, convertible, and they wash and wear like a dream. I’ve had mine for 3 years and it’s come with me all over the world. It’s simple but more elegant than a normal t-shirt allowing me to feel a little more put together, even when I’m living out of a backpack for four months at a time. Order the evolve top by Encircled here.
I’m not saying this list will solve all of your packing problems, but I promise you won’t be disappointed with these top travel accessories for women!
