The Merrion Hotel

The Merrion Dublin
When it comes to luxury hotels in Dublin, it doesn’t get much better than the Merrion. This five star, award-winning hotel is located in the heart of the city and can easily be recognized by its Georgian design and beautifully landscaped gardens. Rooms at the Merrion feature Georgian décor, views over either the city or the gardens, and Italian marble bathrooms. In terms of dining, Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud has 2 Michelin stars, or you can dine in the Cellar Restaurant which offers Irish cuisine or grab a cocktail at No. 23 bar. The Merrion hotel also features an infinity pool, a spa, and an Italian marble steam room. If you are looking for opulence, this luxury Dublin hotel is the best pick for you.

The Clarence

The Clarence Hotel

The Clarence hotel offers something a little more unique when it comes to luxury Dublin hotels. Described as Dublin’s ‘original rock and roll hotel’, the Clarence hotel is also known as Bono’s hotel. The U2 rock star and fellow bandmate and guitarist, The Edge, bought the property in the 90’s and refurbished it to become the hotel as you see today. The Clarence is only a 2-minute walk from Temple Bar District. Each of the rooms is individually designed with custom, hand-crafted furnishings, stained glass lamps, and wrought-iron king size beds with velvet drapes. The Clarence also has a funky art deco bar called the Octagon Bar that serves award-winning drinks. If you love music, U2, or rock and roll then you should definitely stay in this luxury Dublin hotel.

The Westbury Hotel

The Westbury Hotel Dublin

If you are looking for an elegant, luxury hotel in Dublin then the Westbury Hotel is definitely worth your consideration. This beautiful five-star property is located on Dublin’s famous shopping street, Grafton Street, and has two on-site restaurants. The Gallery, however, might be the main attraction. It is home to one of Ireland’s best private art collections and is where their iconic afternoon tea is served. Rooms at the Westbury Hotel are spacious and feature Irish design and products, including Irish woven carpets and fresh, Lissadell linens.

The Shelbourne Hotel

The Shelbourne Dublin

For those looking for a luxury Dublin hotel with a history to it, look no further than The Shelbourne Hotel. The Shelbourne has over 190 years of stories behind it. It was occupied by British troops during the 1916 Easter Rising and the Irish Constitution was drafted here in 1922. Today, it is one of the top luxury hotels in Dublin offering elegant rooms and fine dining. The Saddle Room, a steak and seafood restaurant, is a favourite and the Shelbourne’s afternoon tea service, which is served in the Lord Mayor’s Lounge, is an elegant affair. The rooms are comfortably furnished and have marble bathrooms with plush robes and slippers and luxury bath products. The Shelbourne hotel is located across from St. Stephen’s Green; an ideal spot for exploring the city. For a luxury Dublin hotel with plenty of historic charm, the Shelbourne hotel is a great pick.

The Fitzwilliam Hotel

The Fitzwillian Hotel, Dublin

Located by Stephen’s Green (one of my favourite areas to stay in Dublin), the Fitzwilliam Hotel is a popular luxury Dublin hotel. Rooms are spacious with colourful, contemporary décor. The bathrooms are quite large as well, with baths and power showers, luxurious robes and slippers for guest use, and are stocked with Murdock toiletries. The hotel restaurant, Glover’s Alley, offers French-style cuisine served overlooking St. Stephen’s Green and guests are welcome to have a pint, cocktail, or afternoon tea at the bar, the Inn on the Green.

Hotel Conrad Dublin

Conrad Hotel is a sleek, modern luxury Dublin hotel located in the heart of Dublin City. Rooms are bright and spacious, especially for European standards, with wooden floors, oak panels, and Irish artwork on the walls. The on-site restaurant, The Coburg Restaurant, is open all day and is known for their fresh seafood dishes. Additionally, there is an onsite bar, Lemeul’s lounge, which serves up delicious cocktails as well as an afternoon tea service. More interested in craft beer? Then head to Alfie Byrne’s by Galway Bay Brewery which also has an outdoor terrace, perfect for summer days.

Clontarf Castle Hotel

Clontarf Castle, Dublin

Unlike the other luxury Dublin hotels on this list, Clontarf Castle Hotel doesn’t have a city-centre location (It’s about a 10-minute drive from downtown Dublin). However, if you are looking for an Irish Castle Hotel experience in Dublin, then this is the hotel for you. It’s an 11thcentury castle with modern amenities. Clontarf Castle hotel features an on-site restaurant specializing in local beef and fish dishes, and the Knights Bar with stained glass windows, ornate ceilings, and open fireplaces. There is also the Indigo lounge which serves morning coffee, afternoon tea, and a large selection of wine.
